There should be no burrs or deep scratches on the working surface of the brake drum. Otherwise, replace the brake drum or machine its working surface.
After turning, sand the surface of the brake drum with fine-grained abrasive bars. After turning, the diameter of the brake drum should not exceed 201 mm.
Replace the brake drum if cracks are found.
To remove, install and replace the rear brake drum on a car, you will need: a 7 mm spanner, two mounting blades, a rubber or polymer hammer.
1. Engage 1st gear and place chocks under the front wheels.
2. Check that the parking brake lever is lowered all the way down (the car is released).
3. Remove the front wheel and clean the brake mechanism from dirt.
4. Remove the two mounting pins.
5. Apply a liquid such as WD-40 liquid wrench to the hub and, after waiting a few minutes, clean off any dirt or rust from the area.
6. Using a rubber or polymer hammer, knock the brake drum off the hub.
7. Remove the brake drum from the hub. If this fails, knock it off with a rubber mallet or press it off by evenly driving pins or suitable bolts into the two threaded holes in the brake drum.

8. When installing an old brake drum, use a file to remove the ridge on its working surface that has formed as a result of wear.
9. Install the rear brake drum on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal. First, lubricate the hub seat with graphite grease or LSC-15 grease and push the brake pads together using two mounting blades.
10. Check the ease of rotation of the wheel. Slight contact of the brake drum with the brake shoes is permissible. With the vehicle parked on the ground, press the brake pedal two or three times to bring the brake shoes to the brake drum.
