Removal and installation the brake master cylinder reservoir (Kalina 1118)

The master cylinder reservoir is removed for replacement or preventative cleaning. In addition, sometimes it becomes necessary to remove the brake master cylinder reservoir to replace the rubber bushings that secure the reservoir.

To remove and install the brake master cylinder reservoir on a car, you will need: a flat-blade screwdriver, 10 and 13 mm wrenches.

1. Remove the battery (see "Removal and installation the battery").

2. Disconnect the wire ends from the brake fluid level sensor.

3. Remove the brake reservoir cap with the brake fluid level sensor float.



4. Use a rubber bulb or syringe to pump out the brake fluid from the brake reservoir.



5. Remove the brake reservoir clamps...



6. ...pry up the brake reservoir with a screwdriver and remove it from the master brake cylinder.





7. Inspect the rubber bushings securing the brake reservoir. Replace rubber bushings that are torn, cracked or have lost elasticity.

8. Install the brake reservoir on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal.
