Note. Brake fluid type - DOT-3 or DOT-4.
We recommend checking the level before each ride and topping up the reservoir if necessary. If you have to add brake fluid to the reservoir quite often, repair the problem immediately (see sect. «Brake system») or contact your dealership.
When changing the brake fluid in the system, remember or write down the brand of fluid that was filled in so that you use the same brand when topping up.
The reservoir is installed on the main brake cylinder in front of the engine compartment lining (to the right of the expansion tank).
Warning! Take precautions when handling brake fluid: it is toxic.
Note. In order not to expose yourself to unforeseen expenses for the repair of the brake system, and even the entire car as a whole, in the future, replace the brake fluid with fresh one in a timely manner. Brake fluid is very hygroscopic and absorbs moisture from the atmosphere, which, in addition to causing corrosion of parts of the brake system, lowers the boiling point of the fluid itself, and this can lead to brake failure during frequent heavy braking.
Note. Do not reuse fluid drained from the system!
Note. Contact of brake fluid on wires, plastic or painted body parts can cause damage, so always use clean rags when filling. If brake fluid comes into contact with these parts, immediately wash off the fluid with water and wipe the surface with a clean cloth.
1. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. It must be between the marks «MIN» And «MAX», applied to the body of the tank.
Note. The liquid level in the tank is monitored by a float sensor. If the level falls below the mark «MIN», the brake warning light in the instrument cluster comes on.
Attention! A gradual drop in the brake fluid level with no leaks most likely indicates the need to replace the brake pads. Check the condition of the brake pads (see «Checking the degree of wear of brake pads, discs and drums»). Late pad replacement leads to costly repairs (replacement of brake discs, drums, calipers)!
2. If the fluid level is below the mark «MIN», unscrew the cap of the reservoir with the brake fluid warning light sensor mounted in it and place it on a clean rag.
3. Add brake fluid to the mark «MAX». Reinstall the plug.
4. Check up work of the gauge of an alarm lamp of an emergency condition of brake system. Turn on the ignition, then press the button in the tank cap. The warning light in the instrument cluster should come on. If the lamp does not light up, contact a specialist, as most likely the sensor is faulty.
