Warning! If it is necessary to add brake fluid during work, use only a new one recommended by the manufacturer. Avoid spilling brake fluid and avoid contact with vehicle parts, especially body paintwork. To avoid accidentally spilling liquid, add it through a clean funnel.
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. We check the level of brake fluid in the reservoir of the hydraulic brake drive, which should be between the MAX and MIN·marks.
Comment:
- The vehicle must be parked on a flat, level surface.
- With new brake pads and discs, the brake fluid level should be at the level of the MAX mark. If the fluid level in the tank has dropped, it is necessary to check the tightness of the brake system (see below, «Checking the drive of the service brake system»).
- You should also check the condition of the brake pads and brake discs, as their wear leads to a decrease in the brake fluid level.
3. If the level is below the MIN·mark, add brake fluid.
Comment. An insufficient level of brake fluid will be signaled by a brake fluid level sensor mounted in the reservoir - an indicator lamp for insufficient brake fluid level will light up on the instrument panel (see «Dashboard»).
4. Thoroughly wipe the tank cover with a clean rag in order to prevent dust and dirt from penetrating into the hydraulic actuator. Unscrew and remove the cover.
5. Through a funnel, add brake fluid to the reservoir to the MAX mark.
Warning! It is imperative to determine the cause of the drop in the brake fluid level and eliminate the malfunction.
6. We screw the cap onto the neck of the tank and tighten it by hand.
