  • Checking the fluid level in the brake hydraulic reservoir

The brake fluid reserve for the hydraulic brake drive is located in a reservoir located on the main brake cylinder.

To monitor the brake fluid level, a sensor is installed in the reservoir cap. When the brake fluid level drops below the permissible level (mIN mark on the tank body) the warning light for the emergency condition of the service brake system lights up in the instrument cluster. If there is no fluid leak in the brake system, the fluid level in the reservoir decreases due to the increase in the volume of the hydraulic system. The volume increases when the pistons are extended from the front working cylinders (and to a lesser extent the rear) wheels when the thickness of the brake linings decreases as a result of lining wear. Even if there is a sensor, we recommend that you periodically visually check the level of the working fluid in the tank, since during operation, a malfunction may occur, both of the sensor itself and of the control lamp in the instrument cluster or their electrical circuits.

The tank has MIN and MAX marks, between which the brake fluid level should be.

With the reservoir cap removed and new brake pads installed, the fluid level in the reservoir should be at the MAX mark.

Do not allow the fluid level to drop below the MIN mark.

To add brake fluid to the reservoir, unscrew its cap counterclockwise without disconnecting the wiring block from the sensor.

Add DOT-4 fluid to the tank up to the MAX mark and install the tank cap with the sensor.

Brake fluid that comes into contact with the vehicle's paintwork, plastic parts and wiring can cause damage. Remove it immediately with a clean cloth.

If the brake fluid level in the reservoir is constantly decreasing, then there is most likely a leak in the system. In this case, it is necessary to check the tightness of the hydraulic drive of the brake system and eliminate the malfunction.
