Description and characteristics of LADA XRAY cars

LADA XRAY - compact city crossover (J-segment, SUV), which has been produced since 2015 to the present by the Russian automaker AvtoVAZ. It was developed by a team led by British auto designer Steve Mattin, chief designer "Vesta". The car was first presented as a concept car in August 2012 at the Moscow International Automobile Salon, the second version "XRAY Concept 2" debuted in August 2014, and the production model went on sale in early 2016. It is based on the Dacia B0 platform and is the result of the work of specialists "Renault" and "AvtoVAZ". A car with a front engine and only front-wheel drive. The name has two meanings: "X-Ray" as a form of electromagnetic radiation; as an abbreviation - X - crossover class, Recreation (rest), Activity (activism), Youth (adolescence).

X-Ray cars compete with the following foreign cars: Chery Tiggo 2, Chevrolet Niva, Citroën C4 Aircross, Datsun mi-DO, Ford Focus hatchback, Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Lifan X60, Lifan X50, Mitsubishi ASX, Nissan Note, Renault Sandero, Renault Kaptur, Renault Duster, Skoda Rapid and Toyota Yaris.

Production began in December 2015 in full compliance with the company's schedule. It is produced at a plant in the city of Tolyatti. Sales began in February 2016. The body is a five-door station wagon, 4165 mm long, 1764 mm wide, 1570 mm high, wheelbase 2592 mm and unladen weight of 1190 kg. The price of the basic configuration was 589 thousand rubles. The model was launched in 2018 "XRAY Cross" with increased ground clearance, with pads at the bottom of the doors, on the wheel arches and bumpers to protect the body. The external dimensions of this modification are as follows: length 4171 mm, width 1810 mm, height 1645 mm and unladen weight 1295 kg.

Four-cylinder petrol engines are installed with the following characteristics: 1.6 liters (1596 cm³, VAZ-21129, 106 hp), 1.6 liters (1598 cm³, Renault H4M, 110 hp) and 1.8 liters (1774 cm³, VAZ-21179, 122 hp). Gearbox: five-speed manual "Renault JR5/JH3" or "VAZ-21809", five-speed robotic "VAZ-21827", and the model is also equipped with a CVT variator.
