On a vehicle, the travel of the parking brake lever should be (according to the manufacturer's data):
  • when adjusting 2-4 clicks;
  • in operation 2-8 clicks. The parking brake should hold the car on a 25% slope when the lever in the car interior is moved by 7-9 teeth (clicks) of the ratchet device.

1. To check the correct adjustment of the parking brake, find an overpass or loading ramp near the parking place of your vehicle with a height of H = 1.25 m and an entry length of L = 5 m. This ratio corresponds to a slope of 25%.

2. If there is no such ramp, for a simplified check of the parking brake, place the vehicle on a level surface. Set the gear shift lever to neutral position and fully raise the parking brake lever inside the vehicle. Get out of the car and try to move it. If you have succeeded in doing this, you will need to urgently adjust the parking brake drive. To check and adjust the parking brake drive on a car, you will need two 13 mm wrenches.

1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass.

2. Lower the parking brake lever all the way down.

2. Lower the parking brake lever all the way down.

3. Loosen the lock nut 1 of the tensioner, holding the adjusting nut 2 with another key, until the parking brake drive cable is tensioned.

4. Check that the full working stroke of the parking brake lever is 2-4 clicks.

5. After checking the working stroke, tighten the equalizer lock nut while holding the adjusting nut with a wrench.

6. Lower the parking brake lever all the way down and turn the rear wheels by hand. They should rotate evenly, without jamming. If the parking brake cable cannot be tightened during adjustment, it must be replaced.
