- multimeter in ohmmeter mode with a measurement limit of 0.1 to 10 kOhm;
- thermometer with a change limit of at least 100°C;
- a small heat-resistant container with a volume of about 0.5 liters.
Advice. The thermometer can be replaced by a digital multimeter with temperature measurement mode.
Removing
1. Drain the coolant (see «Coolant - replacement»).
2. Remove the air filter (see «Air filter - removal and installation»).
3. Squeezing the latches, disconnect the wire block from the sensor.
4. Using a 21 mm key, we turn the sensor out of the cylinder head.
Examination
We check the sensor in the same way as the coolant temperature sensor of the engine management system (see «Coolant temperature sensor - removal, inspection and installation»). Connect the ohmmeter probes to the terminal and to the sensor housing. The resistance of a good sensor should be close to the data given in the table:
Replace the defective sensor.
The marking of the sensor is applied on the hexagonal part of its body.
Installation
1. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.
2. Fill the engine cooling system with liquid.
3. We start the engine and make sure there are no coolant leaks from under the sensor. If necessary, reinstall the sensor, applying a heat-resistant sealant to its threaded part.
