Advice. You can verify that the temperature sensor is working by comparing its readings on the instrument panel with a household liquid-type thermometer. Violations in the temperature readings can be caused by increased electrical resistance in the connection of the contacts of the wire block with the sensor leads.
You will need a multimeter to do the job.
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the bumper grille (see «Front bumper - removal and installation»).
3. Remove the sensor from the bracket.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the sensor and remove the sensor.
5. Turning on the ignition, we measure the voltage at the terminals of the connecting block of the wiring harness.
Recommendation. The voltage should be about 3.5 V. If no voltage is supplied to the block, then the power circuit or instrument panel is faulty. You can verify that the sensor is faulty by replacing it with a known good one.
6. We replace the faulty sensor with the same type.
7. Install the sensor in reverse order.
8. After installation, we check the operation of the ambient temperature sensor according to the readings of the liquid crystal display installed in the instrument panel (see «Dashboard»).
