Replacing the main fuses
1. We prepare the car for work and disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Prying with a screwdriver, open and remove the cover from the center console.
Table 8.4.3. Engine management system fuses
The location of the fuses and the block of the diagnostic connector of the engine management system in the overlay of the tunnel floor
3. The fuse and relay mounting block has tweezers to remove the fuses from the socket. A faulty fuse is determined by a blown thread.
Recommendation. Sometimes the thread of the fuse remains intact, while its connection inside the fuse is broken. It is impossible to visually determine such a malfunction. In this case, you can evaluate the condition of the fuse using an ohmmeter.
Warning! Before replacing a fuse, the cause of the blown fuse must be determined and repaired. In order to avoid failure of the elements of the engine control system, fuses with an increased rating or home-made fuses should not be installed.
4. Install the fuse in place, connect the battery and make sure that the engine is working properly (see «Checking the technical condition of the engine management system»). At the end of the test, install the cover in place.
Replacing the relay and additional fuse
1. We prepare the car for work and disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the right overlay of the instrument panel console (see «Floor tunnel lining - removal and installation»).
3. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the nut securing the relay unit.
4. Remove the relay box from under the instrument panel console.
5. We take the block aside for the length of the wiring harness.
Engine management relay box and additional fuse:
1 - relay for turning on the fuel pump;
2 - fuse for the electric fan of the cooling system (50A);
3 - relay for turning on the electric fan of the cooling system (low speed);
4 - main relay;
5 - relay for turning on the electric fan of the cooling system (high speed).
6. We remove the fuse for the electric fan of the engine cooling system. Check the fuse and replace the defective one.
7. Similarly, we replace the relay of the engine control system.
8. Install the relay box under the neutral console and fasten it with a nut.
9. We connect the battery and make sure that the engine control system is working properly (see «Checking the technical condition of the engine management system»).
10. Upon completion of the check, install the right overlay of the instrument panel console.
Warning! Before replacing a fuse, the cause of the blown fuse must be determined and repaired.
