The engine control system circuits are protected by three fuses located under a cover in the floor tunnel lining. The system relays are assembled into a block and installed under the center console. The unit also has a built-in fuse for the electric fan of the engine cooling system.

Replacing the main fuses

1. Prepare the car for work and disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Using a screwdriver, open and remove the cover from the center console.

Recommendation. Sometimes the fuse thread remains intact while its connection inside the fuse is broken. It is impossible to visually identify such a malfunction. In this case, you can assess the condition of the fuse using an ohmmeter.

Warning: Before replacing a fuse, you must determine and correct the cause of the fuse blown. To avoid failure of engine control system components, do not install fuses with increased ratings or homemade ones.

4. Install the fuse in place, connect the battery and make sure the engine is working properly (see "Checking the technical condition of the engine management system"). After completing the check, put the cover back in place.

Replacing the relay and additional fuse

1. Prepare the car for work and disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the right instrument panel console trim (see "Floor Tunnel Lining - Removal and Installation").

3. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the relay unit mounting nut.
