Find out if the parts of the front suspension have cracks or traces of rubbing against road obstacles or the body, deformations of the levers, stretch marks, the stabilizer bar and its struts, parts of the front end of the body at the points of attachment of the nodes and parts of the front suspension. Deformation of the front suspension parts and, above all, stretch marks and parts of the front end of the body violates the wheel alignment angles and makes it impossible to adjust the camber.
Check the condition of the silent blocks (rubber-metal joints), rubber cushions, ball joints of the front suspension, as well as the condition (draft) the upper supports of the telescopic struts of the front suspension. Silent blocks (rubber-metal hinges) and rubber cushions must be replaced in case of ruptures and one-sided buckling of rubber, as well as when cutting their end surfaces.
To check the condition of the front suspension ball joint, remove the wheel from the vehicle and measure the distance H (see fig. 6.1) between the lower arm 17 and the brake disc 21. If this distance changes by more than 0.8 mm when the front suspension swings, replace the ball joint.
