Removing
1. Remove the timing belt (see «1.6i engine timing belt - replacement»).
2. We unscrew the nut 1 and the bolt 2 of the upper fastening of the rear cover of the timing belt.
3. Disconnect the throttle cable from the sector and unscrew the bolts of the cable bracket.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the camshaft position sensor connector.
5. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the bolt and two nuts securing the plug.
6. A rubber o-ring is installed on the plug mounting bolt. Replace damaged sealing ring.
7. Remove the cap. Remove the sealing ring of the plug. Replace damaged sealing ring.
Comment. On the engine, the plug can be removed with a camshaft position transmitter only if pin 1 is located opposite slot 2.
8. Socket wrench 13 mm in series (half a turn) unscrew the ten nuts securing the two bearing housings.
9. Remove the front bearing housing.
10. Remove the rear bearing housing.
11. We remove the camshaft from the cylinder head by slightly pulling the rear cover of the timing belt.
12. Remove the oil seal from the camshaft.
Installation
1. Lubricate the camshaft journals with clean engine oil.
2. We lay the camshaft in the cylinder head with the pin up.
3. Before installing the bearing housings on the mating plane of the block head in the areas of the front oil seal...
... and plugs apply a thin layer of Loctite-574 sealant or similar.

4. Evenly, in several stages, we wrap the nuts of the bearing housings until the housings come into contact with the cylinder head (following the sequence shown in the photo). After that, tighten the nuts with a torque of 18.38-22.64 Nm (1.87-2.31 kgf·m).
5. We press in a new camshaft oil seal (see «1.6i engine camshaft oil seal - replacement»).
6. Before installing the plug, we put an o-ring on it.
7. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
