Warning! At negative air temperatures, the electrolyte in a fully discharged battery may freeze, turning into ice. In this case, do not start the engine from an external power source, as this may cause the battery to explode. It is necessary to preheat the battery in a warm room.
Such work is performed only if it was not possible to start the engine due to a discharged battery, and there is no opportunity or time to charge it.
Warning! Use appropriately sized connecting wires with insulated clamps.
Warning! In order not to mistakenly connect the positive terminal of the additional current source to the negative terminal of the battery and vice versa, it is better that the wires are of different colors.
We connect one end of the red wire to the positive terminal of the additional current source...
... and the second to the positive terminal of the vehicle battery. To do this, remove the protective cover from the output.
We first connect the black wire to the negative terminal of the additional current source, and then to the eye of the engine being started.
Comment. Do not connect the wire to the negative battery terminal as «shrunken» The battery will draw most of the current.
Warning! Before starting the engine, make sure that the wires do not touch the moving parts of the engine.
Recommendation. If a battery is used as an additional power source in another vehicle, this vehicle must be started and allowed to run at a higher engine speed. After that, you can try to start the engine.
If a start-charger is used as an additional current source, then before trying to start it is necessary to turn it on and wait for a while so that the battery is at least slightly recharged.
Before disconnecting the wires, let the engine run for at least three minutes. We disconnect the wires in the reverse order of connection.
Warning! When disconnecting the wires, the headlights must be turned off, as a power surge can cause the lamps to burn out.
Recommendation. Keep in mind that during a short trip, the battery will not have time to charge. After arriving at the parking lot, you should check the charge of the battery and, if necessary, charge (see «Battery - Charging»).
