1. Disconnect the drain pipe from the fuel pump module housing by prying it off with a screwdriver.
2. Overcoming the force of the spring, move the fuel pump housing of the module slightly up along the guides and, using a screwdriver, remove the retaining ring from one of the guides. After this, the fuel pump module housing can be moved slightly away from the bracket.
3. Disconnect the ground wire terminal from the fuel pressure regulator.
4. Use a screwdriver to press the locking tab on the wiring harness connector and disconnect it from the intermediate connector.
5. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the electric fuel pump.
6. Release the two fasteners of the fuel level sensor and, moving it upward along the grooves of the fuel pump module housing...
7. ...remove the fuel level sensor from the module.
8. Wash the fuel level sensor rheostat contacts and its slider plate with gasoline, then wipe with a lint-free cloth soaked in alcohol.
9. Using a screwdriver, pry up the spring clip of the fuel pressure regulator...
10. ... remove the retainer from the bracket...
11. ...and remove the pressure regulator.
12. Inspect the fuel pressure regulator O-rings. Replace rings that are too tightly compressed, hardened or torn by removing them using a screwdriver.
13. Press the plastic clips...
14. ...and remove the fuel pump module housing from the bracket guides.
15. To replace or clean the fuel filter, pry its base with a pointed tool and remove the fuel filter from the fuel pump housing, overcoming the resistance of the spring lock washer.
16. Before reinstalling the fuel filter, remove the lock washer, straighten it with pliers and install it into the filter housing.
17. Install the fuel filter in the reverse order of removal.
18. To replace the electric fuel pump, press the plastic retainer and remove the electric pump from the housing.
19. Assemble and install the fuel pump on the vehicle in the reverse order of disassembly.
