Replacing the fuel filter (Kalina 1118)

The vehicle's fine fuel filter replacement is scheduled to occur every 30,000 km. However, the condition of the fine fuel filter depends on the quality of the gasoline: the dirtier the gasoline, the faster the fine fuel filter becomes clogged. Jerks when the car is moving, first at high speeds and then at low speeds, most likely indicate that the fine filter is clogged.

The fuel filter on the car is installed at the bottom in a bracket fixed to the fuel tank, so it is more convenient to replace the fuel filter on a lift or inspection pit.

To replace the fuel filter on your car, you will need a 10 mm wrench.

1. Reduce the pressure in the fuel supply system (see "Reduced fuel pressure in the engine fuel system").



2. Having pressed the spring clamps...



3. ...disconnect the fuel hose tips from the fuel filter fittings.



4. Check the condition of the sealing rings in the hose ends. Replace rings that are torn or have lost elasticity.



5. Loosen the tightening bolt of the fuel filter mounting bracket and remove the fuel filter from the bracket.



6. Install a new fuel filter on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal, so that the arrow on its housing points in the direction of fuel flow. Connect the fuel hose tips to the fuel filter by moving along the fittings until the spring clips snap into place.
