Comment. This section shows the removal of the left tie rod. We remove the right thrust in the same way.
To perform the work, a viewing ditch or overpass is required.
Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see p. 20. «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the front left wheel (see «Wheel - replacement»).
3. We press out the pin of the outer tie rod end from the hole of the steering knuckle (see «Tie Rod End - Replacement»).
4. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the locking plate of the steering rod mounting bolts to the steering mechanism.
5. Using a 15 mm spanner, loosen the bolt 1 for fastening the right link and unscrew the bolt 2 for fastening the left link to the steering mechanism.
6. We take out the left traction bolt and turn the bolt plates down.
7. We take out the left thrust through the hole in the mudguard.
Installation
1. Measure the length of the removed rod (distance between the center of the hole of the rubber-metal bushing of the inner end of the rod and the center of the plug hole of the ball pin).
2. With a 17 mm socket wrench, we loosen the tightening of the coupling bolt with the foot of the thrust. Rotating the adjusting sleeve with a 27 mm key, we make the length of the new rod equal to the length of the removed rod.
Warning! Before adjusting the length of the rod, make sure that the adjusting sleeve and tip are screwed onto the steering rod until it stops.
3. Install the traction in the reverse order.
4. We tighten the coupling bolt of the thrust with a torque of 19-30.9 Nm (2.0-3.2 kgf·m).
5. Tighten and splint the bolt for fastening the pin of the tie rod ends with a torque of 27.1-33.4 Nm (2.8-3.4 kgf·m).
6. Tighten the bolts for fastening the rods to the steering mechanism with a torque of 70-86 Nm (7.1-8.6 kgf·m) after installing the car on wheels.
7. We put on the bolts the locking plate.
Warning! After replacing the traction, it is necessary to adjust the toe-in at the service station.
