Replace the oil pan gasket in an inspection pit, overpass or, if possible, on a lift.
To replace the oil pan gasket on a car, you will need a 10 mm socket head.
1. Remove the engine splash guard from the vehicle (see "Removal and installation the engine mudguard").
2. Drain the oil from the engine (see "Changing engine oil and oil filter").
3. Remove the front clutch housing cover (see "Removal and installation the gearbox").
4. Remove the sixteen oil pan mounting bolts.
5. Remove the oil pan by carefully prying it away from the cylinder block with a screwdriver. 6. Remove the oil pan gasket from the cylinder block mating surface.
7. Remove any remaining old pan gasket and sealant (if available) from the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and oil pan. Carefully wipe off any oil from the mating surfaces with a rag.
8. Place the new oil pan gasket on the oil pan mating surface.
9. Install the oil pan on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal and tighten the bolts evenly in a crisscross pattern to the torque specified in appendix 1.
10. Pour oil into the engine crankcase.
