Coolant temperature sensor (coolant temperature sensor) is a thermistor (a resistor whose resistance changes with temperature). On the vehicle, the coolant temperature sensor is screwed into the thermostat housing and connected to the controller input, which is connected to an internal 5 V source through a 2 kOhm resistor. At low temperatures, the resistance of the coolant temperature sensor is high, and at high temperatures, it is low (Table 9.5).

The controller calculates the coolant temperature based on the voltage drop across the coolant temperature sensor. When the engine is cold, the voltage drop is high, and when the engine is warm, it is low. Coolant temperature affects most of the characteristics that the controller controls.

To replace the coolant temperature sensor on a car (coolant temperature sensor) you will need a 19 key.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Partially drain the coolant from the radiator.

3. For ease of operation, remove the air filter (see "Removal and installation the air filter").

6. Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance at different temperature conditions (see table 9.5). 7. Install the coolant temperature sensor on the vehicle (coolant temperature sensor) in the reverse order of removal.
