On a vehicle, the idle air controller regulates the idle speed of the engine by controlling the amount of air supplied to bypass the closed throttle. The idle speed controller consists of a two-pole stepper motor and a cone valve connected to it. The valve extends or retracts according to the controller signals. Fully extended idle speed needle (which corresponds to 0 steps) blocks the air flow. When the needle is retracted, an air flow is provided that is proportional to the number of steps the needle moves away from the seat. The idle speed controller is located on the throttle assembly.
To replace the IAC sensor (idle speed controller) on a car, you will need a Phillips screwdriver.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Wring out a plastic latch and disconnect a plait of wires from the regulator of idling established on throttle knot.
3. Remove the two mounting screws and remove the idle speed control from the throttle assembly (for clarity, the throttle assembly is removed).
4. Replace the torn or loose sealing ring of the idle speed regulator.
5. Install the idle speed control in reverse order, lubricating its o-ring with engine oil.
