The sensitive element of the knock sensor is a piezoelectric crystal plate. When detonation occurs, voltage pulses are generated at the sensor output, which increase with the increase in the intensity of detonation shocks. The controller, based on the signal from the knock sensor, regulates the ignition timing to eliminate detonation flashes of fuel.
To replace the knock sensor on your car, you will need a 13 mm wrench.
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Press the metal tab on the wire harness connector and disconnect the connector from the knock sensor.
3. Loosen the knock sensor mounting bolt and remove the sensor.
4. Install the knock sensor on the vehicle in reverse order, tightening its mounting bolt to a torque of 10.4-24.2 N·m.
