Canister purge valve: 1 - branch pipe (lower) for connection with adsorber; 2 - conclusions for connecting the wiring harness; 3 - branch pipe (upper) for connection to the throttle assembly
To do the job, you will need a multimeter, two pieces of wire, a rubber bulb.
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Slide the latch stopper up.
3. Press the latch and disconnect the wire block from the adsorber purge valve.
4. Visually make sure that the terminals of the block are in good condition. If oxides are found on them, we process the conclusions with a means for cleaning and protecting electrical contacts.
5. Remove the valve from the body bracket.
6. Press the latch and disconnect the connection tube with the inlet pipeline.
7. Similarly, we disconnect the connection pipe with the adsorber from the valve pipe.
8. If necessary, remove the valve from the coupling.
9. Using a multimeter, we measure the electrical resistance of the valve winding, which should be in the range of 20-30 ohms.
9. If a short circuit or open circuit is found in the valve winding, replace the valve.
Warning! In order to avoid a short circuit during the following operation, one valve outlet must be insulated with PVC tubing.
10. We supply 12 V voltage from the battery to the valve terminals.
Comment. When voltage is applied to the terminals, the valve should open with a characteristic click.
11. Creating a vacuum in the valve with a rubber bulb, we repeat the check (see above).
12. We replace the faulty valve. Install the valve in reverse order.
Installation
Install the valve in the reverse order of removal.
