Removal and inspection
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the decorative engine cover (see "Engine trim panel - removal and installation").
3. Having released the retainer, we disconnect the wiring block from the camshaft position sensor.
4. Connect the "negative" probe of the voltmeter to the "mass" (to the car body).
5. Turn on the ignition and use a voltmeter to measure the supply voltage at terminal B of the wiring harness connector (the terminal designations are made on the block).
Note: The voltage at the terminal must be at least 12 V. If the voltage does not reach the connector or is less than 12 V, the battery is discharged, the power supply circuit is faulty, or the ECU is faulty.
6. Remove the intake module (see "Intake module - removal, replacement of seals and installation").
7. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two bolts securing the camshaft position sensor.
8. Remove the camshaft position sensor from the opening in the rear timing belt cover.
Recommendation. You can verify that the camshaft position sensor is faulty by replacing it with a known good one.
Installation
We install the camshaft position sensor in the reverse order of removal.
