This section only briefly describes the faults in the fuel injection system caused by failure of certain sensors. The procedure for removing and installing power supply system components is given in the subsections "Engine power supply system" and "Electronic Engine Management System" (Operation of the fuel injection system).
The closed-loop fuel injection system includes a catalytic converter and an oxygen concentration sensor, which provides feedback. The oxygen concentration sensor monitors the oxygen content in the exhaust gases, and the electronic control unit, using its signals, maintains the air-fuel ratio at which the catalytic converter operates most efficiently.
On a Lada Kalina, check the fuel injection system in the following order.
1. Check the ground connection of the engine and battery.
2. Check the fuel filter and fuel pump.
3. Check the fuses and relays for switching on the fuel injection system components.
4. Check the reliability of the contacts in the connectors with wires of the fuel injection system elements.
5. Check the fuel injection system sensors. On the Lada Kalina, most fuel injection system malfunctions are caused by the failure of the following sensors:

- crankshaft position sensor - complete failure of the fuel injection system, the engine does not start;

- mass air flow sensor (MAF) - increased fuel consumption, significant deterioration in dynamics, problems with engine starting;

- throttle position sensor (TPS) - loss of power, jerks and dips when accelerating a Lada Kalina, unstable operation in idle mode;

- coolant temperature sensor (CTS) - difficulties with starting the engine in cold weather, you have to warm up the engine, maintaining the speed with the accelerator pedal (gas), when the engine overheats, the power is significantly reduced, detonation appears;

- knock sensor - the engine is very sensitive to the quality of gasoline, increased tendency to detonation;

- oxygen concentration sensor (lambda probe) - increased fuel consumption, decreased engine power, unstable idling. Possible damage to the catalytic converter;

- speed sensor (mounted on the gearbox housing) - possible deterioration of the dynamic qualities of the Lada Kalina car and increase in fuel consumption.
