- The neutralizer is an expensive component that ensures environmental protection. The catalytic converter can be damaged by misfires in the engine cylinders (external manifestation - interruptions in engine operation and jerking when the car is moving), because the unburned fuel in the cylinders will ignite in the neutralizer and the temperature in it will increase sharply, which will cause thermal damage to the catalytic element of the neutralizer. Electronic engine control units have a function to protect neutralizers from misfires. When misfires occur in one or two cylinders, the "Engine" indicator lights up in a flashing mode, the fuel supply to the cylinders in which misfires were detected is turned off, after which the "Engine" indicator lights up continuously until the end of the trip. If misfires occur, urgent measures must be taken to eliminate them.
- Vehicles equipped with catalytic converters can only be tow-started when the engine is cold. It is preferable to start the engine using another battery or an external 12-volt power source and under no circumstances use the starter to move the car.
- The car is equipped with a downpipe with a catalytic converter that has a high operating temperature, so it is strictly forbidden to place and store flammable materials and objects in the engine compartment (rags, paper, etc.) to prevent possible fire.
