Features of operation of a car with electromechanical power steering (Granta 2190)

In the variant version, the car is equipped with an electromechanical power steering (hereinafter referred to as electric power steering), thanks to which driving becomes easy and enjoyable. The electric power steering is located in the steering column. The electric power steering instantly monitors all steering inputs and increases the torque transmitted by you through the steering wheel according to a specific algorithm, specially selected for the vehicle, depending on the vehicle speed.

• The low steering effort provided by the electric power steering allows the steering wheel to be turned at high speed. In this case, in extreme positions, minor impacts of the rack travel limiter on the crankcase are possible, accompanied by a slight knock. To avoid damage to the steering gear housing, it is necessary to control the speed of rotation of the steering wheel in extreme positions and not to apply increased force when the rack rests against the limiter.
• It is not recommended to operate a vehicle with a faulty electric power steering when the control indicator in the instrument cluster lights up.
• The cause of the electric power steering malfunction must be identified and eliminated as quickly as possible at the vehicle manufacturer's service and sales network.

The electric power steering does not work or may turn off in the following situations:

• when the car engine is not running;
• with the vehicle speed sensor disconnected;
• when the car is parked for a long time (more than 5 minutes) with a running internal combustion engine with a rotation speed of more than 1500 rpm;
• when the voltage of the vehicle's on-board network drops;
• at low idle speed of the car engine.
