1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel (see «Removal and installation of a steering wheel»).
3. Turn the three locks on the fuse box cover counterclockwise 90°to release the bottom of the cover..
4.... and remove the fuse block cover.
5. Remove paddle shifters (see «Checking and replacing steering column switches»).
6. Turn out four screws of fastening of the amplifier of the panel of devices …
7.... and remove the amplifier.
8. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the steering column switch connector.
9. Press the latch..
10.... and disconnect the blocks of the wiring harness of the power wires of the ignition switch.
11. Disconnect the blocks of the wiring harness of the immobilizer reading coil.
12. Press the latch..
13.... and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the electromechanical power steering control unit connector.
14. Similarly disconnect the second block of a plait of wires from the control block.
15. Turn away a nut of a coupling bolt of the cardan hinge of the electromechanical amplifier from the cardan shaft of the steering mechanism and remove a bolt.
16. Unscrew the two upper nuts securing the electromechanical amplifier to the body, unscrew the two lower nuts by 3-4 turns..
17.... and remove the electromechanical amplifier from the car.
Note. It looks like the steering shaft assembly removed from the car.
18. Loosen the clamp of the steering column switch connector..
19.... and remove the connector.
20. Turn out the screw of fastening of a protective cover..
21.... and remove the casing.
22. Press the latch..
23.... and disconnect the wiring harness block from the electromechanical power steering control unit.
24. Similarly, disconnect the second block of the wiring harness from the control unit.
25. Remove the two screws securing the control unit to the bracket of the electromechanical power steering..
26.... and remove the control unit.
Note. This is what the electromechanical power steering control unit looks like. Pay attention to its marking in order to purchase a similar unit when replacing.
27. Install the electromechanical power steering in the reverse order of removal.
Note. If, when adjusting the height, the steering wheel is poorly fixed in a predetermined position, tighten the lock stud nut.
