Attention! Be sure to replace the torn protective cover of the ball joint, otherwise dirt and water that have entered the joint will quickly disable it. You can replace the cover without removing the tip from the rod.
Bent inner tie rod ends must be replaced.
You will need: pliers with narrow jaws, a key «at 13», «at 19», «at 22», ball joint puller, flat blade screwdriver.
1. Remove the relevant front wheel.
2. Clean the tie rod to pivot arm nut and apply WD-40 to the threaded joint to make it easier to loosen the nut.
3. Loosen the tightening bolts of the outer and inner tie rod ends.
4. Bring the ends of the cotter pin tightly together..
5.... and remove the cotter pin. If you cannot remove the cotter pin with your hands, use pliers.
6. Loosen the nut..
7.... and press out the ball joint pin with a puller.
8. Turn away a nut of fastening of steering draft and remove draft from an aperture.
9. Holding the adjusting rod with the key..
10.... unscrew the tip from the rod, counting the number of revolutions. When installing the tip, this will help to approximately maintain the toe-in of the wheels.
11. If it is required to replace the steering trapezoid adjustment rod, unscrew it, also counting the number of turns when unscrewing.
12. Install the tip in the reverse order of removal. Before tightening the tip mounting bolt and pressing in the outer tie rod end pivot, make sure that the pivot surface is parallel to the pivot arm bearing surface. Align the hinge if necessary.
13. Tighten the ball joint pin nut to the required torque and bring it to match the nearest cotter pin slot in the nut. After installing the tip, check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles.
14. To replace the ball joint boot, disconnect the link from the swing arm (see point 8).
15. Remove the protective boot O-ring by gently prying it out with a narrow, blunt object.
16. Carefully, so as not to damage the protective cover, pry with a screwdriver..
17.... and remove the spring ring.
18. Remove the protective cover.
19. Remove dirty top layer of lubricant (if it is noticeable that dirt has got inside the hinge, then such a hinge will have to be replaced) and apply new grease. Fill a new boot with half its volume of grease and install it on the hinge, putting the edge of the boot on the seat on the hinge body until it stops.
20. Install the circlip and o-ring.
21. Check up correctness of installation of rings and tightness of a prileganiye of edges of a cover.
