1. Remove the outer tie rod end (see «Removal and installation of the outer tip of the steering rod and replacement of the protective cover of the ball joint»).
2. Pry up the lock plate..
3.... and remove it from the heads of the bolts of the steering linkage rods.
4. Loosen both tie rod bolts…
5.... unscrew the bolt of the removed thrust..
6.... retract the inner lug by turning the connecting plate..
7.... and remove the rod through the hole in the mudguard of the wheel arch.
8. Worn or damaged rubber-to-metal joints of the inner tie rod ends can cause increased steering wheel free play. Since the operation to replace the hinge requires skill and a special tool, we recommend replacing the hinge assembly with the inner rod end by removing the tip from the adjusting rod.
9. If you are only replacing the tie rod ends, remove the tie rod bolts and fold the tie rod ends off the adjusting rod.
10. Before installing the steering rod, check the following: distance a from the end of the hexagon of the adjusting rod to the end of the outer tip (it should be 10.6–16.3 mm) and distance b to the end of the inner tip (10.8-14.2 mm). It is necessary to maintain these dimensions of the threaded sections for a reliable connection of the rod with the tips.
11. Establish draft in an order, the return to removal.
12. After installing the rods, check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles (see «Checking and adjusting the angles of the front wheels»).
