Attention! The electric power steering starts to function after the car engine is started. Under certain conditions (for example, overheating of the electric power steering, decrease in voltage of the on-board network) the electric power steering may reduce the compensating torque or switch off. Such shutdowns are caused by the operating algorithm of the electric power amplifier and are not signs of a malfunction. When the car engine is restarted and the above conditions are absent, the electric power steering system is restored to working order.
If the electric power steering is switched off, for example when towing a car with the engine off, the car remains steerable, but this will require significantly more force to be applied to the steering wheel.
The low steering effort provided by the electric power steering allows the steering wheel to be turned at high speed. In this case, in extreme positions, minor impacts of the rack travel limiter on the crankcase are possible, accompanied by a slight knock. To avoid damage to the steering gear housing, it is necessary to control the speed of rotation of the steering wheel and not apply increased force in extreme positions.
It is not recommended to operate a vehicle with a faulty electric power steering (the control indicator in the instrument cluster is on).
For the convenience of seating for drivers of different anthropometric groups, it is possible to change the position of the steering wheel in height and along the steering column. To do this, you need to lower the steering column adjustment lever down to the stop, move the steering column up/down and forward/backward to achieve the desired position, and raise the adjustment lever up to the stop.
