To repair the brake caliper, you will need a repair kit consisting of the parts shown in the photo.
Details of the front caliper repair kit: 1 - protective covers for guide pins; 2 - sealing collar of the piston of the brake cylinder; 3 - piston cover; 4 - protective cap of the bleeder fitting
To perform the work, you will need a rubber bulb and special lubricant for brake mechanisms.
Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the reservoir cap of the main brake cylinder and pump out part of the brake fluid with a rubber bulb (see «Hydraulic brake drive - pumping»).
3. Remove the front wheel (see «Wheel replacement»).
4. With a slotted screwdriver, we press the outer block from the bracket, sinking the piston into the caliper cylinder.
5. Remove the brake hose (see «Brake hoses - replacement»).
6. Remove the front brake pads (see «Front brake pads - replacement») and support.
7. Remove the guide pins.
8. Remove the protective cover.
9. We clean our fingers with a rag and carefully examine them. Replace pins if worn.
10. We apply a special grease for brake mechanisms to the guide pins...
...and put a small amount of grease in protective covers.
11. Install the fingers in place. Fingers should move smoothly, without jamming. Otherwise, they must be replaced.
Caliper repair
1. Prying with a screwdriver, remove the piston boot.
2. We apply a small pressure of compressed air to the brake fluid inlet and push the piston out, placing a wooden block so as not to damage the piston.
3. Remove the piston.
4. We pry with a thin slotted screwdriver and remove the piston cuff.
5. Replace the removed boot and cuff, inspect the surfaces of the piston and cylinder. If there are signs of wear, scratches or corrosion, the parts are replaced.
6. Before assembly, lubricate the parts with clean brake fluid.
7. We assemble the caliper in reverse order. When installing the anther, carefully, so as not to tear, we fill it with a slotted screwdriver on the caliper.
Installation
1. Install the caliper in reverse order.
2. We remove air from the hydraulic brake system (see «Hydraulic brake drive - pumping») and make sure that the connection between the hose and the caliper is tight.
