Warning! We replace the brake drums in both rear wheel brake mechanisms at once.
Recommendation. We strongly recommend that when replacing the brake drums, you also replace the brake pads (see "Rear brake pads - replacement").
Sequence of execution
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the rear wheel (see "Wheel replacement").
3. Release the parking brake.
4. Using a chisel or a slotted screwdriver and a hammer, press out...

...and remove the protective hub cap.

5. Using a 36 mm socket wrench, unscrew the hub nut.

6. Remove the brake drum.

Warning: Do not press the brake pedal when the brake drum is removed.
7. Check the condition of the rear brake mechanism parts (see "Brake system - checking technical condition"), we replace damaged or worn parts.

8. Wash the brake mechanism parts with brake cleaner.
9. Install the parts in reverse order. Tighten the hub nut to the specified torque (see table 3.2).
Recommendation. If the shoes interfere with the installation of the drum, tighten the threaded part of the automatic adjuster bar so that the bar has a minimum length (see below, "Rear brake shoes - replacement").
10. Replace the second brake drum in the same way. Press the brake pedal several times to adjust the brake pads and check the parking brake adjustment (see "Parking brake - adjustment").
