Sequence of execution
1. Place the vehicle on a level, horizontal surface if possible (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair"). If there are passengers in the vehicle, they should be disembarked.
2. Take out the tool and the spare wheel (see above, "Removal the spare tire and tool kit").
3. We fix the car with the parking brake and install wheel chocks on both sides under the wheel located diagonally from the one being replaced.
Note: On a car with stamped steel wheels, use a special puller to remove the decorative wheel cap.
On a car with alloy wheels, to remove the cap, pry it off with a slotted screwdriver.
On vehicles with light alloy wheels and a stamped spare wheel, the standard tool kit should include four bolts for securing the spare wheel.
The bolts that secure the alloy wheels are longer and will not fit the stamped steel spare wheel as indicated by the sticker on it.
4. Using a 17 mm socket or wheel wrench, loosen all wheel mounting bolts by approximately half a turn.
Warning! If the vehicle is parked on loose ground, place a pad under the jack to increase the jack's support area (for example, a board). Install the jack only in places specially designated for this purpose (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair"), as incorrect installation can lead not only to damage to the vehicle, but also to injury if the jack jumps out of the support.
5. Place a jack under the car's thresholds. In this case, the lower support platform of the jack must be located strictly under the upper stop. (cm. "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
6. Smoothly lift the car, while simultaneously checking that it does not move forward or backward. We lift until the car wheel being replaced is 2-3 cm away from the supporting surface.
7. Finally, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the wheel.
8. Install the spare wheel on the hub and tighten the mounting bolts by hand.
9. Holding the wheel from turning, tighten its mounting bolts.
10. Smoothly lower the car until the wheel is in firm contact with the supporting surface. Next, we lower the car completely onto its wheels and fold the jack.
11. Finally tighten the wheel mounting bolts in the sequence shown in the photo.
12. Remove the tool, clean the removed wheel and put it in place of the spare. We install a decorative cap.
13. Check the tire pressure and, if necessary, bring it up to normal (see "Checking tire pressure").
Warning! Depending on the equipment, some vehicles with light alloy wheels may be equipped with a spare wheel with a stamped steel disk. It is marked with the maximum permissible speed limit. When using the spare tire, be careful and do not exceed the speed limit!
