The vehicle can be towed using a towing rope or by fully or partially loading it onto a tow truck. To avoid damaging your vehicle, please read the towing methods and rules for securing towing devices carefully.

Towing with a rope

Warning! Do not tow a vehicle with a tow rope if the brake system, steering, transmission and suspension components are faulty.

To tow the vehicle you will need a towing eye 1 and a wheel brace 3 (see "Removal the spare tire and tool kit").

1. To install the eye from the front, pry it up with a puller (or a thin-bladed slotted screwdriver)...

3. Connect the towing cable to the eye.

3. Connect the towing cable to the eye.

The length of the cable should ensure a distance between cars of 4-6 meters.

Warning! According to the requirements of the Road Traffic Regulations, the flexible connecting link (tow rope) must be marked with a warning device in the form of flags or shields, 200x200 mm in size, with alternating red and white stripes 50 mm wide applied diagonally with a reflective surface. There must be at least two of these flags (shields).

6. Shift into neutral.

7. Turn on the ignition (the key in the ignition switch is in the ON position). This will ensure that the lights, windshield wipers, and horn operate and prevent the steering wheel from locking while driving.

8. If the engine is in good condition, it must be started. When towing with the engine off, be aware that the brake booster and power steering will not operate, so the effort required to operate the brake pedal and steering wheel will increase.

9. Turn off the parking brake.

Warning! According to the Road Traffic Regulations, when towing, it is necessary to turn on the low beam headlights on the towing vehicle and the hazard warning lights on the towed vehicle.

Warning! For safety reasons, do not exceed 25 km/h when towing. If you need to tow over long distances, transport the vehicle using the full load method (see below).

Towing other vehicles

For towing other vehicles, a towing eye is provided, which is located under the rear bumper.

When driving a car with a manual transmission that is being towed, extend the acceleration time in each gear, and switch gears as quickly as possible to avoid losing speed at the moment of switching.

Note: Towing a vehicle is a fairly serious additional load for the towing vehicle and can significantly reduce the service life of transmission components, as well as cause their failure if towing is performed incorrectly. So think twice before you start towing. If the desire to help is so great, then maybe it would be cheaper to pay for a tow truck?
