Attention! In the fuel injection engine fuel system, the pressure is 380 kPa (3.8 kgf/cm²). Therefore, it is prohibited to loosen the fuel line connections while the engine is running or immediately after it has stopped. To carry out repair work on the fuel system on an engine that has just been stopped, it is necessary to first reduce the pressure in the fuel system. After 4-5 hours after the engine stops, the pressure in the system drops significantly (almost to zero).


1. Shift the transmission into neutral and apply the parking brake.

2. Remove the rear seat cushion (see "Removing and installing the rear seat").

3. Lift the cut out part of the mat over the hatch.

4. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the two screws securing the hatch cover above the fuel…

7. …and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the fuel pump.

8. Start the engine and let it run until all the fuel in the fuel rail is used up. After this the engine will stop.

9. Turn on the starter for about 3 seconds to equalize the pressure in the pipelines.
