To complete the work you will need:
- viewing ditch or overpass;
- wide capacity of at least 4 liters;
- funnel with hose.
Examination
The test is carried out with the engine off.
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the air filter housing (see «Air filter - removal and installation»).
3. Remove the oil level indicator from the hole in the gearbox housing.
4. We wipe the pointer rod from oil and put it back in place until it stops, and then remove it. The oil level in the gearbox must be between the MIN and MAX marks printed on the indicator rod, otherwise we bring the level to normal (see below, «Gearbox - oil change»).
5. Install the level indicator and the air filter in place.
Replacement
We change the gearbox oil after 75,000 km or after five years of operation, whichever comes first. The type of oil used is indicated in the section «Reference data» (see p. 95).
Advice. It is better to change the oil immediately after the trip, while it is hot, so the oil drains faster and more completely along with suspended wear particles.
Warning! The temperature of the heated oil can reach 90°C, be careful.
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. We install a container under the drain hole of the gearbox housing.
3. With a 17 mm spanner, unscrew the drain plug.
4. Drain the oil.
5. After waiting for the oil to completely drain from the box, we wrap the plug in place.
Advice. If the oil drained from the gearbox is dark in color and metal particles are visible in it, the gearbox should be flushed. To do this, pour 1-1.5 liters of special flushing oil into the crankcase of the box. With one of the drive wheels out of the way, start the engine and engage first gear. After 5-7 minutes, turn off the engine, drain the flushing oil and fill in clean transmission oil.
6. Remove the oil level indicator (see above, «Transmission - Checking the Oil Level»).
7. We wipe the pointer, removing oil from it.
8. We fill the lower end of the hose into the hole of the oil level indicator.
9. Insert a funnel into the upper end of the hose.
10. Pour 3.1 liters of gear oil into the gearbox through a funnel.
The oil level in the box is controlled by the pointer.
11. At the end of the work, we remove oil smudges with a rag and set the oil level indicator in place.
