To perform the work, you will need an inspection ditch or overpass, a wide container with a volume of at least 4 liters and a funnel with a hose or a special oil syringe.
The test is carried out with the engine off.
For some operations, for example, to replace the front wheel drive oil seal, it will be necessary to drain the oil.
Recommendation. It is better to change the oil immediately after the trip, while it is hot, so the oil drains faster and more completely along with suspended wear particles.
Warning! The temperature of the heated oil can reach 90°C, be careful.
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. We install the car on a viewing ditch or overpass
3. We install a container under the drain hole of the gearbox housing.
4. With a 17 mm spanner, unscrew the drain plug.
5. Drain the oil.
6. After waiting for the oil to completely drain from the box, we wrap the plug in place.
Recommendation. If the oil drained from the gearbox is dark in color and metal particles are visible in it, the gearbox should be flushed. To do this, pour 1-1.5 liters of special flushing oil into the crankcase of the box. With one of the drive wheels out of the way, start the engine and engage first gear. After 5-7 minutes, turn off the engine, drain the flushing oil and fill in clean transmission oil.
7. With the same key, unscrew the plug of the control hole (see photo above).
8. We fill the lower end of the hose into the control hole.
9. Insert a funnel into the upper end of the hose.
10. Pour gear oil into the gearbox in small portions through a funnel (to the lower edge of the control hole).
11. Fill in the oil, remove the hose with a funnel.
12. After waiting for the excess oil to stop flowing out of the control hole, we wrap the plug there.
13. At the end of the work with a rag, remove the oil drips and install the removed parts.
