Sequence of execution
1. Prepare the vehicle for work and disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the decorative steering column trims (see "Decorative steering column trim - removal and installation").
3. Disconnect a pair of connectors from the ignition switch (lock) wiring harness.

4. Using a multimeter to determine the color of the wires (in ohmmeter mode) we check the serviceability of the terminal connections in the socket.
Note. Perform the check when the key is in position 0 — "off". Then check the closure of the contacts in position I — "on" and II — "starter". The order of contact closure and the colors of the wires on the terminals are shown in the vehicle electrical equipment diagram.
We replace the ignition switch with a faulty contact group (see "Ignition switch (lock) - removal and installation").
