Figure 1.7. Ignition switch
STOP – off. The position is fixed. The key is removed. When the key is removed, the mechanism of the mechanical anti-theft locking device is activated. To completely lock the steering shaft, turn the steering wheel to the right or left until it clicks. To turn off the mechanical anti-theft device, insert the key into the ignition switch and, turning the steering wheel slightly to the right and left, turn the key to the ON position.
+ACC – auxiliary equipment is working (for example, audio system), ignition is off, engine is not running. The position is fixed. The key cannot be removed. ON – ignition. The position is fixed. The key cannot be removed.
START – starter. Position is not fixed. Automatic key return to ON position. Key cannot be removed. If the engine does not start on the first start attempt, turn the key from the ON position to the STOP position and try to start again after approximately 40 seconds.
Warning!
1. While driving, it is strictly forbidden to turn off the ignition and, especially, to remove the key from the ignition switch - this leads to a sharp increase in the force required to press the brake pedal and block the steering.
2. Do not leave the key in the ON position when the engine is not running, as this may drain the battery.
3. Do not hold the key in the START position for more than 10 seconds. The ignition switch contains a starter re-engagement lock mechanism that prevents the key from being turned from the ON "ignition" position to the START "Starter" position again.
To move the key again from the ON "ignition" position to the START "Starter" position, you must first move the key to the STOP "Off" position, and then try again.
