Brake pedal — checking free play (Kalina 1119)

Free travel of the brake pedal is the travel of the pedal from its upper position until the brake mechanisms begin to operate. It should be 3-5 mm.

To complete the work you will need a ruler or tape measure.

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Place a ruler or tape measure near the pedal and measure the distance from the floor to the outer surface of the brake pedal. Pressing the pedal with your hand, we lower it until we feel an increase in resistance to the pedal's movement. We repeat the measurements. Based on the difference between the obtained values, we determine the free play.

Recommendation. If the pedal stroke is more or less than the required value, adjust the pedal stroke (see "Brake pedal free play - adjustment").
