Clutch malfunctions, their causes and solutions (Kalina 1118)

Cause of malfunction	Method of elimination
Incomplete disengagement of the clutch (clutch "leads")
Insufficient full travel of the clutch pedal Warping of the driven clutch disc (end runout more than 0.5 mm) Seizure of the clutch driven disk hub on the splines of the primary shaft Misalignment or warping of the clutch pressure plate Loose rivets or broken friction linings of the clutch driven disc Malfunction of the clutch drive cable or clutch disc wear compensation mechanism	Adjust the initial setting of the clutch cable Straighten or replace the clutch disc Clean the splines, wash with white spirit. If the splines are worn, replace the primary shaft or the driven clutch disc Replace the clutch pressure plate assembly Replace the clutch linings or driven disc, check the clutch disc axial runout Replace the clutch cable
Incomplete clutch engagement (clutch "slips")
Increased wear or burning of the friction linings of the driven clutch disc Oiling of the friction linings of the driven clutch disc, flywheel surfaces and clutch pressure plate Damage or seizure of the clutch drive	Replace the friction linings or the clutch disc assembly Thoroughly wash oily surfaces with white spirit, replace worn or damaged gearbox and engine seals. Check for oil leaks through the flywheel mounting bolts; if there is a leak, install the bolts with sealant Eliminate the causes of jamming. Replace damaged clutch drive components
Jerks when engaging the clutch
Oiling of the friction linings of the driven clutch disc, flywheel surfaces and clutch pressure plate Clutch drive jamming Damage to the surface or warping of the clutch pressure plate	Thoroughly wash oily surfaces with white spirit, replace worn or damaged gearbox and engine seals. Check for oil leaks through the flywheel mounting bolts; if there is a leak, install the bolts with sealant Eliminate the causes of clutch drive jamming. Increased noise when engaging the clutch
Damper springs of the clutch driven disc are broken	Replace the clutch disc assembly
