1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the instrument panel trim (see "Disassembly and assembly of the instrument panel").
3. Remove the two screws securing the immobilizer control unit...
4. ... remove the immobilizer unit from its installation location...
5. ...disconnect the wiring harness connector from the immobilizer control unit terminals and remove the unit from the vehicle. 6. Install the immobilizer control unit on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal. After replacing a faulty immobilizer with a new one, it is necessary to carry out the system training procedure (see "Immobilizer Key Training"). To do this, use the training key from the faulty immobilizer.
The APS-6 immobilizer allows the engine to be started without the training procedure. This type of engine start can only be performed using the same training key that was previously used to activate the anti-theft function of the engine control unit installed in the vehicle.
Start the engine as follows:
- close all doors;
- turn on the ignition with the training key, but do not start the engine;
- turn off the ignition (the immobilizer indicator light should start flashing rapidly);
- no later than 6 s after the ignition is turned off (while the lamp is blinking) you must turn on the ignition again with the training key and start the engine.
