It is advisable to perform daily maintenance before each trip by car or at least at least once a week. It won't take much time, but it can help you avoid a lot of trouble.

If any problem is detected during daily maintenance, it must be corrected.

Sequence of execution

1. We make sure that there is no damage to the body glass, rear-view mirrors, headlights and fog lights, rear lights, and that the state registration plates are legible. If the specified parts are dirty, clean them.

Warning! Operating a vehicle with dirty (unreadable) license plates is an administrative offence, which is subject to fines.

2. Inspect the car wheels (see "Checking the technical condition of disks, tires and hubs"). We check the wheel fastening elements and vigorously press on the side of the wheel with our foot, swinging it in the transverse direction.

2. Inspect the car wheels (see «Checking the technical condition of disks, tires and hubs»). We…

At the slightest suspicion of loosening of the wheel fastenings, check the tightening of the fastening elements with the torque specified in the reference data.

Wheel rims must be free of cracks and signs of deformation. If the tire of one of the wheels has a "hernia", cut, or crack on the side surface, then replace that wheel. If the tires are significantly deformed or if you suspect that the tires are underinflated, use a pressure gauge to check the air pressure in the tires (see "Checking tire pressure"). If necessary, bring the pressure back to normal.

3. We make sure that there are no traces of oil leaks or other technical fluids under the car.

If we detect spilled oil or other technical fluids, we will be sure to eliminate the problem. A fluid leak from the brake system can cause an accident. Oil leaks from the gearbox and engine can lead to failure of expensive units and components. A drop in the fluid level in the expansion tank can cause the engine to overheat, which will require a major overhaul.

4. Make sure that the hood and trunk are securely closed.

5. Make sure that all doors close tightly and are securely locked with door locks.

6. Press the brake pedal and make sure that it is "elastic" - there is no air in the hydraulic brake system.

7. Turn on the ignition and make sure that the indicator lights come on briefly (see "Instrument panel").

8. To check the functionality of the sound signal, press its switch (see "Governing bodies").

9. We turn on the side lights, low and high beam headlights, fog lights and lamps, reversing lights, brake lights and hazard warning lights in sequence, while checking that the corresponding lighting lamps and light signals are turned on.

Note: To check the brake lights without an assistant, you can position the car with its taillights in front of a screen (wall, gate, etc.). The activation of the brake lights can be seen through the rear-view mirrors by the illumination of the screen. Another option is to place a wooden block between the brake pedal and the driver's seat. The block should be long enough to allow the brake pedal to be pressed lightly.

10. Press the brake pedal and start the engine. The engine should start on the first try. The pedal should move slightly toward the floor, indicating that the brake booster is working properly.

11. By the extinguished control lights on the instrument panel, we make sure that the main systems of the car are in good working order. The indicator lights are on (see "Instrument panel") indicate a malfunction in the corresponding systems that must be eliminated.

Warning! You should check the brake fluid level if the low brake fluid warning light on the instrument panel lights up.

12. Based on the volume of the exhaust, we determine the condition of the exhaust system. If the noise increases, it is necessary to inspect the components of the exhaust system (see "Exhaust system") and fix the problem. Operating a vehicle with a faulty exhaust system is prohibited by the Road Traffic Regulations.
