Automatic transmission selector: 1 - selector cover with mode markings; 2 - selector lever; 3 - sector for switching the main modes of the automatic transmission; 4 — manual gear shift control sector
The engine can only be started if the selector is in position N and the brake pedal is pressed.
To activate the required mode, you must move the selector lever to the appropriate position. In this case, the information display will show the corresponding symbol (M for manual mode and A for automatic mode) and the number of the engaged gear or R for reverse gear.
N — neutral gear. Used when stopping and parking the car for a long time. In this mode, all controls are turned off, the engine and chassis are disconnected, and the car can move freely. To secure the vehicle in place, use the service brake system or the parking brake.
Warning! When the vehicle is parked, apply the parking brake.
R — reverse. Used to move the vehicle in reverse. Switching to this mode is only possible after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
A - forward movement with automatic gear shifting. This mode provides automatic shifting of forward gears. Gears are selected (depending on the vehicle speed and engine crankshaft speed) and switch automatically. The mode is used when the vehicle is moving under normal road conditions. If the selector lever is moved to the left in this mode, the gearbox will switch to manual gear shift control mode (M mode).
M - forward movement with manual gear shift control. Used to shift gears manually. The mode can be activated when the selector lever is in position A. To control gear shifting in manual mode, briefly move the lever forward or backward. When moving the lever forward (the direction on the selector is marked with the symbol "+"), a shift to a higher gear will occur, while moving it backward will engage a lower gear (marked on the selector accordingly with "-"). Gears are shifted only sequentially. Therefore, if you need to go down two steps at once, you need to pull the lever back twice. To deactivate manual mode, the selector lever must be returned to position A.
Warning! If the selector lever is in position R, A or M, the brake pedal must be kept depressed until the vehicle starts moving. To avoid damage to the gearbox, the automatic transmission control system will not allow the gear to be engaged that does not correspond to the vehicle speed.
