The general appearance of the gear selection mechanism is shown in the figure 6.6.
You will need: a 10 mm wrench and a flat-blade screwdriver.
1. Remove the gear selector mechanism from the gearbox (see "Disassembling the gearbox and inspecting its parts").

2. Remove the locking bracket guide shaft lock washer.

3. Remove the guide axle.

4. Unscrew the gear selector lever axle mounting bolt (a spring washer is installed under the bolt head).

5. Remove the lever axle.

6. Using a screwdriver, remove the cylindrical spring.

7. Remove the plastic support washer from the spring.

8. Remove the lever block...

9. ...and a conical spring with support washers.

10. Remove the lock washer from the reverse gear fork shaft.

11. Remove the reverse gear fork from the gear selector housing.
12. Check the condition of the forward and reverse gear selector levers and locking brackets. If these parts are worn, damaged or deformed, replace them as an assembly.
13. Replace worn control arm axles.
14. Replace bent, broken or sagging springs.
15. Replace a worn, damaged or deformed reverse gear fork.

16. Assemble the gear selection mechanism in the reverse order of disassembly, having first lubricated all rubbing parts with transmission oil. In this case, the conical spring with support washers is installed with the side of the larger diameter towards the mechanism body.

17. To make it easier to get the mounting bolt into the threaded hole in the gear selector lever axle, a special slot for a screwdriver is made on the end of the axle.
