Removal
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Inside the instrument panel shelf, use a slotted screwdriver to pry up and remove the plug.

3. Disconnect the wiring harness from the resistor.

4. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screw securing the additional resistor.

5. Remove the resistor.

Examination
1. Visually check that the coils are intact and that there is no charring or other damage.

2. Using a multimeter in ohmmeter mode, check the coils of the additional resistor for breakage. If a break is detected in one of the coils, we replace the additional resistor.
Installation
We install the additional resistor in the reverse order of removal.
