The filter is installed on the front wall of the cylinder block.
The filter is assembled in a metal case. As a filter element in the oil filter, a special filter paper is used, which has pores of a certain size and is impregnated with a special composition.
The non-return valve prevents oil from draining from the lubrication system channels back into the oil pan after the engine has stopped. To prevent rupture of the filter element due to excessive oil pressure, a safety valve is built into the filter element (bypass) valve. It allows oil to bypass the filter element when the pressure reaches a critical value. And this can be blown away at very low ambient temperatures, immediately after starting a cold engine, when the engine oil is still thick or when the filter has exhausted its life. During operation, the filter element is gradually filled with engine wear products. As the filter element becomes clogged with wear and tar deposits, the resistance that the filter provides to the oil increases. If the filter is not changed in a timely manner, its throughput decreases so much that the oil can no longer pass through the filter element in the required volume. As a result, crude oil will enter the lubrication system. The filter must be replaced at every engine oil change. The filter must not be reused!
When changing, install only a filter designed for these engines. When buying an oil filter, you need to focus on the factory catalog number (see «Reference data»).
The installation of filters designed for other engine models is not allowed even if they fit the fit size and mounting thread. An externally similar filter may not have a bypass or check valve, due to the fact that the filter is designed for an engine in which such a valve is built into the engine lubrication system. Or, for another filter, the bypass valve response pressure is higher, as a result, engine parts will experience oil starvation when the engine is not yet warm and the oil is thick. It is also bad if the valve operates at a lower pressure, crude oil will enter the system.
