The steering consists of a steering wheel, a steering column, a steering mechanism, two steering rods connected by ball joints to the steering knuckles. The steering mechanism is mounted on the front subframe, which reliably protects it from possible impacts on road bumps, but at the same time closes access to it. In case of repair, it is necessary to remove the steering gear assembly with the front subframe.
The steering column is assembled with a motor-reducer 1 (electromechanical amplifier).
The electric booster works only when the engine is on. The efficiency of the electric booster depends on the speed of the car.
The steering column bracket 3 is attached to the body and is pivotally connected to the steering column tube. The bracket is equipped with a steering column locking mechanism. By moving the lock lever 2 to the upper position, you can change the angle and height of the steering column. With lever down...
...the column is fixed in the selected position.
The rotation of the steering wheel through the shafts of the steering column is transmitted to the steering gear, which engages with the movable rack.
Steering gear: 1 - ball stud fastening nut; 2 - protective cover of the tie rod end; 3 - tie rod end; 4 - tie rod; 5 - protective cover of the steering mechanism; 6 - clamps for fastening the steering gear cover; 7 - locknut
The steering rack is connected to the steering knuckle levers by steering rods, through which it turns the front wheels of the car. The length of the steering rods can be changed by wrapping or unscrewing their tips, thereby adjusting the convergence of the front wheels.
