Steering Tie Rod Protective Boot — replacement (Vesta 2180)

The necessity of performing this work should be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the steering control (see "Steering - checking technical condition").

To complete the job, you will need a new plastic clamp for the inner mount of the protective cover.

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the front wheel (see "Wheel replacement").

3. Remove the steering rod end (see "Tie Rod End - Replacement").

4. Unscrew the lock nut from the rod.



5. Using pliers, remove the clamps securing the protective cover.



6. Remove the protective cover.



7. Remove any remaining grease from the hinge and wipe the rod with a clean cloth. We put new plastic grease into the joint.



8. Install the parts in reverse order. We fasten the protective cover with new clamps.

9. We check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles at a specialized service station.
