There are no moving parts in the ignition system, so it requires no maintenance or adjustments.
In the ignition system, candles of the AU17DVRM type or their foreign analogues are used (see annex 5).
In the ignition system, the ECU monitors the distribution and timing of the spark in the cylinders. Sparking occurs sequentially in those cylinders in which the compression stroke ends and, accordingly, the order 1–3–4–2 is observed. The position sensors of the crankshaft and camshafts supply pulses to the computer «support» signals from which the ECU calculates the firing sequence of the ignition coils. To accurately control the ignition, the ECU uses the following information:
- crankshaft speed;
- engine load (mass air flow);
- coolant temperature;
- crankshaft position;
- the position of the camshafts;
- presence of detonation.
