Note. If the cable removed from the car moves heavily in the sheath, lubricate it, pour gear or engine oil into the sheath until it starts to flow out from the opposite end of the sheath. During the pouring process, periodically move the cable in the sheath.
Note. Install the cable with a helper: the lever rod is short, so to install the equalizer, it is necessary to tighten the cable strongly.
Replace the cable with the following faults:
- loose ends of the cable;
- rope threads began to break;
- the cable moves hard in the sheath even after it has been lubricated.
You will need: key «on 10», two keys «at 13», large screwdriver.
1. Lower the parking brake lever all the way down.
2. Remove the brake drum of the respective wheel.
3. Remove the silencer from the suspension pads and the resonator from the rear pad. Lower the exhaust system (see «Replacement of pillows of a suspension bracket of system of release of the fulfilled gases»).
4. Key «at 13» unscrew the lock nut and the parking brake adjusting nut and remove the equalizer 1 from the rod 2.
5. Remove cable end from equalizer.
6. Take out a tip of a cover of a cable from an arm on a body.
7. Unbend the two brackets for each cable.
8. Insert a screwdriver between the shoe and the parking brake lever, move the lever to the front position and disconnect the cable tip from the lever.
9. Loosen the cable holder fastening nut on the rear axle beam and remove the cable from the holder.
10. Take out a cable from an arm on a body.
11. Take out a cable from a brake board.
12. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal. At the same time, pay attention to the fact that the cables are installed in the bracket crosswise. After installation, adjust the parking brake (see «Checking and adjusting the parking brake drive»).
Note. Some drivers, in an effort to wear out the parking brake cable less, try to use it less often. Such «saving» leads to the opposite result: the cable, rarely moving in the shell, gradually loses mobility and eventually jams and breaks. Use the parking brake whenever necessary.
